This year in Northern Saskatchewan the ice was off early and the lake trout were already moving into deeper water. Duke was the fisherman of the season with his largest lake trout coming in at 29 lbs and another closely following at 27 lbs. A chartreuse spoon with a little red on it and a black, orange and green m50 flat fish were the lures he used. Orange and brown were the colors that seemed to work best but the fish were finicky and we had to change lures constantly. A rapala super shag with an orange belly and an orange spoon with black spots were also season favorites. Over all is was a great trip with several fish weighing 15 to 20 lbs.

At camp we tried Bass Pro shop's beer batter (the hot one) it was very good! It does have a little kick to it so be prepared! We also learned that bug spray- the industrial kind is very flammable. We simply left the spray and sprayer under the motor home but when we went to start the motor home the heat from the exhaust ignited it and almost burnt done the trailer! Luckily we had a couple buckets of water steps away and were able to put out the flames!
